DELHI, N.Y. -- The Elmira College men's tennis team won four of today's six singles matches, but the Soaring Eagles were unable to capitalize on that performance, as the Broncos of SUNY Delhi edged the Purple and Gold, 5-4.

SUNY Delhi opened the match by sweeping the doubles contests to jump out to a 3-0 lead. The Broncos earned a pair of 8-4 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, while the tandem of Curtis Harris '22 and Ravi Chauma '21 narrowly fell at the No. 3 spot by a single break of serve, 8-6.

Elmira fought back valiantly in the singles portion of today's contest, winning four of the six matches. The Broncos earned straight-set wins at the top-two spots, while the Soaring Eagles picked up victories at positions three-six.

Harris registered his third consecutive singles win, this one coming at the No. 3 spot, as he topped Delhi's Marcos Andrino 6-1, 7-5. The rookie is 3-0 during the spring season thus far and is 2-0 at the No. 3 position.

Jordan Curtis '19 made quick work of his opponent at the No. 4 position, as the senior dropped just three games en route to a 6-2, 6-1 victory.

After earning his first singles win a day ago, Chauma made it two consecutive singles wins with a marathon finish this afternoon. Chauma edged Delhi's Michael Zerniak, 6-4, in the opening set, before Zerniak rallied for a 6-2 second-set win. In a 10-point super tiebreaker, Chauma doubled Zerniak's point total and marched away with a 10-5 win, solidifying a 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5) victory.

Rounding out EC's singles winners was Frank Endieveri III '21, who was efficient in a 6-2, 6-3 win at the No. 6 position. For Endieveri, it was his first singles win of the 2018-19 campaign.
