BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team concluded its weekend of back-to-back non-conference contests with an 18-3 loss against Medaille College at the Medaille Sports Complex at Buffalo Color Park.
Trailing by one early in the first period,
Kate Gibson '20 connected with
Jena Gatto '20 to temporarily even the score. Not only did Gatto record her first career point and goal on the play, but Gibson also earned her first collegiate assist.
Despite the early goal, the host Mavericks went on the tally 13 unanswered goals to take a lead they would never relinquish.
In the second half,
Mikayla Carfello '22 and
Mae Dinh '19 joined in the scoring action with back-to-back goals 4:46 apart. Carfello deposited the second goal of her freshman year at the 24:02 mark and Dinh followed with an unassisted woman-up goal at 19:16.
Dinh led all Soaring Eagles with two points (1g-1a), and the senior midfielder added a team-high two caused turnovers. In addition to her assist, Gibson won a team-best four draw controls for the Purple and Gold. Sophomore goalie
Kacie Pierce '21 made nine saves and collected a team-leading three ground balls.
