MENDON, N.Y. -- Elmira College men's tennis played its third match in as many days, as the Soaring Eagles traveled to face Empire 8 Conference foe St. John Fisher College. The Elmira men dropped the E8 road bout to the host Cardinals by a 9-0 final score.

St. John Fisher opened the match by claiming all three doubles points, winning all but two games in the process. In the singles portion of the contest, the Cardinals won five of the six matches in straight sets to clinch the 9-0 win.

The most competitive match of the afternoon took place on court No. 1, as EC's Stephen Gervase '20 found himself in a tight three-set battle with Fisher's John Miller. Gervase earned a crucial break of serve in the opening set, which propelled the third-year netter to a 6-4 first-set win. However, Miller rallied in the second set with a 6-3 win, forcing a third-set super tiebreaker. Despite a valiant effort by Gervase, Miller prevailed in the breaker by four points to secure a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) win.
