Field Hockey Rolls Past Wells, 10-0

PINE VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Elmira College field hockey team produced a dominant performance at the Murray Athletic Center on Wednesday afternoon, as the Soaring Eagles cruised to a 10-0 victory over the Express of Wells College.

The Purple and Gold jumped on the Express from the opening whistle, as EC poured in four of its 10 goals during the first 15 minutes of action. Kelsie Aloi '21 kickstarted the barrage just a 1:38 into the contest with her first goal of the season off of a feed from Kaylee Gill '22. Aloi, kept her foot on the gas throughout the contest, ending the game with four goals.

Aloi's classmate Janie Kempf '21 joined in on the scoring barrage as well, finishing the game with a hat-trick. A pair of freshmen found their names on the scoresheet, as Kylie Rosen '23 and Sarah Griffith '23 were each responsible for a goal and an assist. Elmira's final goal of the afternoon came off of the stick of Felicity Brockhuizen '21, who finished off a pass from Rosen.

EC controlled the ball for the majority of the 60-minute contest, ending the game with a massive 31-1 advantage in shots. EC's defense was just as dominant on the other end of the field, allowing just two corners to the Express.

In her own words…
Head Coach Jessica Franklin spoke on the team's offensive performance…
"We've really been working on our small passing game this week and it was great to see the girls implement that on the field," Franklin stated. "They worked as a unit today and it showed with how they played. A win like this is a nice boost for the team. We have some tough games coming up, so it's a good way to start this next portion of our schedule."
