ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- A relentless attack by Nazareth College resulted in a 6-0 setback for the Elmira College women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Soaring Eagles (2-6-0, 0-2-0 E8) remain in search of their first league win, while the Golden Flyers (5-2-1, 1-0-1 E8) move into a two-way tie for second place in the conference standings.
Nazareth set the tone in the first half by outshooting Elmira, 23-0. However, EC's back line limited the Golden Flyers to just two goals in the 22nd and 33rd minutes. Elmira's starting goalkeeper,
Ally Knorr-Anderson '23, made 11 saves in the opening 45 minutes.
The floodgates opened early in the second stanza though, as Nazareth scored three times in the opening 3:45 of the second half. Nazareth added a fourth second-half goal in the 73rd minute to secure the win.
News and Notes
- Knorr-Anderson finished with a career-high 20 saves.
- It marked the third time this year Knorr-Anderson has produced double-digit stops.
- The 20 saves are the most by an EC netminder since last season when Gabe Carmona '19 made 20 against Utica (9/22/18).
