The Soaring Eagles would break the scoreless tie at the 3:41 mark of the second period as Brooke McArdle '22 found a loose puck in front of the net after heavy pressure to get EC on the scoreboard. Meeder and Erika Goleniak '25 would be credited with the assists on McArdle's tally.

Holley Riva '23 extended EC's lead to 2-0 at the 7:53 mark of the second period after getting behind the William Smith defense for a breakaway followed by a back-handed shot that beat Aalto. McArdle and Jenny Heath '22 each picked up assists on the play for Elmira.

William Smith made the most of its 22 shots on goal in the contest as the Herons trimmed the deficit to 2-1 at the 9:02 mark of the second period with a 5-on-3 power-play goal. The Herons added the equalizer early in the third period as Emily Rourke beat Elmira goalkeeper Leonie-Louise Kuehberger '25 to make it 2-2 less than five minutes into the final frame.
