The Cardinals (19-4, 10-0 E8) outhit Elmira (3-18, 1-6 E8) in the opening contest, 17-to-9. Three of those hits left the yard, including a two-run home from Brian Norsen in the first inning that gave Fisher the lead for good.
EC chances to counter SJFC's attack early on. The Soaring Eagles left two runners on base in the bottom of the first before loading the bases with just one out in the second. However, Fisher starter Anthony Brophy got a force out at home for the second out and retired
James Delaney '22 on three pitches to preserve a 7-0 advantage.
The Soaring Eagles managed to get two runs back in the third.
Mason Ryan '22 and
Myles Littlejohn '24 peppered the gaps with doubles for Elmira's first run. Littlejohn then came around to score on an RBI ground out by
Angus Adams '22.
Joe Morrone '22 and Littlejohn drove in EC's other two runs in the fifth and seventh, respectively. The corner infielders highlighted the early game by finishing a combined 6-for-7 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs.

Fisher picked up right where it left off in the first contest.
Alex Crysler '21 sat the Cardinals down 1-2-3 in the first inning but sent all nine batters to the plate in a five-run second. St. John Fisher added crooked numbers in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to pull out to a comfortable lead.
Elmira drove in its first run in the fifth.
Shane Hake '21 led off with a base hit and scored on an RBI single off the bat of Delaney. In the seventh, Hake, a senior from Ontario, New York, laced a double into the left-center gap. Delaney walked, swiped second, and both outfielders raced home when a routine ground ball rolled between the legs of the Cardinals' back-up second baseman, Brent Carmello.
Hake led the Soaring Eagles in the nightcap with a 2-for-3 effort and two runs scored.
Michael Millross '24, who pitched an inning out of the bullpen and saw time at third, doubled in his only plate appearance of the afternoon.
