Defense Key In Soaring Eagles 4-0 Shutout Win Over Southern Maine

GORHAM, MAINE – The third-ranked Elmira College Women's Ice Hockey program recorded a 4-0 shutout victory against the Southern Maine Huskies on Friday night from the USM Ice Arena. Eliza Beaudin '22 tallied a pair of third-period goals while the EC defense allowed just seven shots on goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Claire Elfring '25 would get the Soaring Eagles onto the scoreboard just over 12 minutes into the opening frame as she found the back of the net at the 12:22 mark. Jenny Heath '22 and Erika Goleniak '25 would each be credited with assists on Elfring's fourth goal of the season. The Soaring Eagles held a 20-1 advantage in shots on goal against the Huskies through the first 20 minutes of action.

The Soaring Eagles would double their advantage at the 10:18 mark of the second period as Claire Meeder '23 notched her eighth goal of the season. Meeder found the back of the net after taking a feed from Morgan Mordini '22, who tallied her first of two assists in the contest.

Beaudin would take over offensively for the Purple & Gold in the third period as she gave EC a 3-0 lead with a short-handed goal at the 13:25 mark. The short-handed tally for Beaudin is the fifth of her career and ties her with Katie Granato '19 on the Soaring Eagles' all-time record list.

Elmira converted with an extra skater to conclude its scoring at the 16:21 mark of the third as Beaudin notched her 16th career power-play tally to make it 4-0. Elfring and Mordini were credited with assists on Beaudin's marker.

Leonie-Louise Kuehberger '25 improved to 9-2-1 on the season for Elmira after recording seven saves between the pipes. The clean sheet is the fourth shutout of the season for Kuehberger. As a team, Elmira finished the contest with a 50-7 edge in shots on goal as Haley McKim registered 46 saves in net for the Huskies.
