CORNING, N.Y. – The Elmira College baseball program erupted for 17 hits and walked-off 13-12 winners in game two of a doubleheader against Cazenovia on Saturday afternoon at Corning Community College. EC captured a 5-3 victory in game one behind six solid innings from
Angus Adams '22.

KEY MOMENT:
Elmira scored a run in each of the first five innings of game one.
Myles Littlejohn '24 produced the eventual game-winning run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Nick Lees '25 added insurance in game two with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning for Elmira.
The Soaring Eagles scored eight runs with two outs in the fourth inning of game two.
Lees delivered a single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Soaring Eagles a 13-12 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Joe Morrone '22 opened the scoring for Elmira in the bottom of the first inning of game one as his double to right-center allowed
Mason Ryan '22 to score and knot the game 1-1. After falling behind 3-1 in the top of the second inning, EC trimmed the deficit by plating a run on a wild pitch to make it 3-1.
Colin McLaughlin '22 would pull the Purple & Gold even with the Wildcats in the third inning with a single that plated Ryan to make it 3-3. Elmira would benefit from a pair of sacrifice flies late in the contest as Littlejohn lifted a ball to center field that scored
Matteo Salvati '25 to make it 4-3 in the fourth, while Lees followed with a fly ball to left field that plated
Jourdan Plaisted '21 in the fifth.
Adams worked into the top of the seventh inning on the mound for the Purple & Gold and would turn things over to the bullpen after issuing a lead-off walk.
David Kruis '23 would take over for Adams and record a pair of outs following a double play. Kruis stranded a runner on base and recorded his first save after getting a line-drive out to secure the 5-3 victory. Adams earned his second win of the season after scattering three runs off of five hits through six innings of work.
The Wildcats would leap out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game two as Nick Santoro highlighted the frame with an inside-the-park three-run home run. Mother Nature would intervene in the middle of the frame as play was halted for 30 minutes due to a snow squall.
Elmira answered with a three-run bottom of the second inning as Salvati delivered an inside-the-park home run to trim the deficit to 5-2.
Jarod Signorelli '23 later followed with a sacrifice fly to center field that plated McLaughlin to make it 5-3.
Cazenovia stretched its advantage to 8-3 in the fourth inning before the Soaring Eagles would rally with two outs in the bottom of the frame. The Soaring Eagles tallied five run-scoring hits, including a two-run single from McLaughlin that gave EC a 9-8 lead. Elmira also worked a pair of bases-loaded walks in the frame.
The Wildcats rallied to knot the score with three runs in the sixth inning and a single run in the top of the seventh inning. Elmira would load the bases in the bottom of the seventh following three consecutive walks. With one out in the frame, Lees would drive a 2-2 pitch into the gap in center field to score Plaisted from third and secure a 13-12 victory.
STATS:
McLaughlin finished the day 5-for-7 at the plate with three RBI and four runs scored.
Salvati, Plaisted, and Littlejohn also delivered three RBI on the day for Elmira.
Salvati added a home run and triple on the day, while Lees and
Brett Warden '25 notched a pair of doubles.
At the plate, Elmira tallied 22 hits, seven extra-base hits, 17 RBI, and 12 walks.
Kruis recorded a save in game one and the victory in game two for Elmira.
