CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Elmira College baseball program dropped a 19-9 decision in a non-conference matchup against Ithaca College on Thursday afternoon from the Gutchess Complex in Cortland, New York.

Myles Littlejohn '24 opened the game with a leadoff home run, his first of the season.
Nick Lees '25 hit his first collegiate home run in the third inning for Elmira.
Jarod Signorelli '23 and
Jourdan Plaisted '21 delivered run-scoring singles in the sixth inning.
Mason Ryan '22 delivered a run-scoring single in the eighth inning that scored
Jared Money '22.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles would plate the first run of the contest as Littlejohn notched his second career home run and first of the season to leadoff in the top of the first inning. Ithaca would answer with six runs in the bottom of the frame as Elmira would turn to the bullpen to get out of the inning.
Plaisted helped to trim the deficit to 7-2 in the top of the third inning with a groundout that allowed Money to score from third base. With two outs in the frame, Lees notched his first collegiate home run as he sent the ball over the wall in left field to make it 7-3.
In the top of the sixth inning, a single from Signorelli allowed
Brett Warden '25 to score to cut the deficit to 14-4. Ryan followed with a fielder's choice groundout that plated
Colin McLaughlin '22. The scoring would be capped following a single up the middle by Plaisted that scored Signorelli to make it 14-6.
Elmira would produce runs in each of the final two innings as Ryan delivered a single to right field that scored Money in the top of the eighth inning to make it 19-7. The Soaring Eagles would benefit from a handful of walks in the top of the ninth inning as Money walked with the bases loaded to close the scoring after
Ryan Trenholm '25 scored off a wild pitch earlier in the frame.
STATS:
Ryan and Trenholm each finished the contest with a pair of hits for Elmira, while Ryan and Plaisted each registered two RBI for the Soaring Eagles.
Elmira worked 11 walks at the plate as Money and Signorelli each recorded four for the Purple & Gold.
David Kruis '23 tossed a clean eighth inning for the Soaring Eagles in his sixth relief appearance this season.
