BEVERLY, Mass. – The Elmira College men's volleyball team dropped two non-conference games on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Endicott College. After falling to the Gulls 3-1 in the opener, the Soaring Eagles dropped its second match of the day to the No. 1 nationally-ranked Pride from Springfield College, 3-0.
Alberto Mauricio '25 led the way with 23 kills on the afternoon, including a 15-kill performance against the Gulls.
JUST THE BASICS (Match One):

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Gulls took the first set of the afternoon 25-19 while hitting .538% from the floor. Despite hitting .462% in the set, the Soaring Eagles were outkilled 18-8. In the second set, the Soaring Eagles found themselves in a 24-23 hole before scoring the next three points on a kill from Mauricio, as well as a pair of attacking errors for Endicott to even the match at 1-1.
The Gulls would go on to take the third and fourth sets to secure a 3-1 win in the match. After taking the third set 25-20 which saw the Soaring Eagles commit its greatest number of attacking errors in the match (10), Endicott slightly edged Elmira in the final set of the day, 25-23.
Mauricio led the way with 15 kills while Oscar Munoz-Trinidad '23 added nine of his own.
Edwin Sosa '25 tallied seven kills for the second consecutive night to increase his season total to 90.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Soaring Eagles were welcomed unkindly by the Pride on Saturday afternoon, hitting just .139% as a team for the match compared to .408 for Springfield. In the straight-sets match, the Pride would take the first set 25-20 before taking each of the final two sets 25-19.
Eric Jackson '23 led the way for Elmira with nine kills, while Mauricio and Munoz combined for 15 in the match.
UP NEXT:
Elmira will return back to Speidel Gymnasium on Wednesday when they host Nazareth in its first home UVC match of the season. The match marks the start of a five-game homestand for the Soaring Eagles.
