James Delaney '22 tallied five hits and recorded three stolen bases as the Elmira College baseball program rallied for a 13-10 victory in non-conference action against Wells College on Thursday night.

KEY MOMENT:
Michael Millross '24 tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Elmira after Wells scored five runs in the first inning.
Brett Warden '25 gave the Soaring Eagles a 7-5 lead in the sixth inning with a three-run double.
Matteo Salvati '25 stole home for Elmira in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 9-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wells Express plated five runs against Elmira in the bottom of the first inning as two runs scored following passed balls and two more after an error by the Soaring Eagles. Millross would take over on the mound for
Robert Gruber '22 and helped to keep the Express' offense at bay through the fourth inning.
Joe Morrone '22 sparked the Purple & Gold offense with a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning, while a run-scoring groundout by
Jourdan Plaisted '21 in the sixth inning sparked an eventual comeback for Elmira.
A triple from
Colin McLaughlin '22 plated a run to trim the deficit to 5-3, while a single from Delaney pulled Elmira within a run of Wells. EC gained the lead with the bases loaded later in the frame as Warden drove a ball to center field that allowed all three runners to score for the Soaring Eagles.
Myles Littlejohn '24 capped the scoring in the frame with a single that plated Warden to make it 8-5.
Elmira scored a pair of runs in the seventh inning as a double steal from Delaney and Salvati allowed Salvati to touch home and make it 9-5. Morrone delivered a sacrifice fly later in the inning to give EC a 10-5 advantage.
Salvati and Delaney delivered run-scoring hits for Elmira in the eighth inning to increase the advantage to 12-5 before a run would score off a passed ball to make it 13-5. Wells looked to make a comeback after scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and three more in the ninth.
David Kruis '23 entered the contest for Elmira with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and would eventually record the final out of the contest to notch his sixth save of the season.
STATS:
Logan Pizzullo '25 recorded his first collegiate win after tossing a scoreless sixth inning for Elmira.
Jack Finnerty '23 and
Kyle Tubbs '22 along with Millross each recorded scoreless outings for the Soaring Eagles.
Delaney, Littlejohn, Salvati, Warden, and
Luke Frontale '22 each finished with multi-hit performances for Elmira.
The 18 hits and six stolen bases in the contest by the Purple & Gold marked season-highs in both categories.
