Just two of the Soaring Eagle runs were scored on hits, as Elmira used three Nazareth errors to its advantage and a pair of RBI ground outs to secure the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless two and a half innings in game one, the Golden Flyers would go on to score four runs in the bottom of the third inning against Elmira starting pitcher MaryAnn Sobel. After a pair of hits to open the inning, Barr would retire the next two batters as the Flyers had a pair of runners in scoring position with two outs. From there, three straight base hits and a double-steal which brought a runner home gave Nazareth an early 4-0 advantage.

From there, the Soaring Eagles would score a run in the top of the fifth inning after Distefano connected for her first home run of the season to trim the Elmira deficit to 4-1. Barr came on in relief of Sobel after 4.0 innings of work where she allowed four runs (all earned) on six hits. Looking for a last effort comeback, the Soaring Eagles would plate three runs in the top of the seventh inning to send the game to extras.

In the inning, Elmira would have each of its first four batters reach base safely, including RBI doubles from Alexis Dinga '22 and Distefano to trim the EC deficit to 4-3. With one away, Arian Wilcox '25 would ground out to second base, bringing home Distefano to tie the game at 4-4.
