HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – Despite scoring first in both contests, the Elmira College baseball program dropped both ends of a doubleheader against St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon as the Cardinals notched a 2-1 decision in game one before rallying for a 7-6 victory in extra innings in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Elmira produced a run in the bottom of the first inning of game one as
Jourdan Plaisted '21 hit a groundball, allowing
Kaden Bolt '26 to score from third to make it 1-0. The Soaring Eagles produced their lone hit of the contest in the frame as
Brett Warden '25 produced a single through the left side following a walk to Bolt.
The Soaring Eagles looked to add to their lead in the bottom of the second inning with runners on first and third as
Jared Money '22 dropped down a bunt that would be fielded by the pitcher. The play would come home as
Bryan Jimenez '25 would be thrown out to keep the score 1-0.
A sacrifice fly from the Cardinals in the top of the fourth inning knotted the score 1-1 before a two-out single into left field allowed the go-ahead and eventual game-winning run to score to make it 2-1.
Jack Finnerty '23 suffered the loss for Elmira after yielding a pair of runs through four innings of work as he scattered a pair of hits.
David Kruis '23 tossed the final three innings out of the bullpen for the Soaring Eagles as he notched three strikeouts and scattered two hits.
In game two,
Matteo Salvati '25 would give the Soaring Eagles a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with an infield single that allowed Warden to score.
Chris Jones '25 pushed the lead to 2-0 later in the frame with a fielder's choice groundout that allowed Salvati to score.
The Soaring Eagles added to their lead in the fifth inning as Bolt delivered a single that allowed
Kade Cochran '26 to score and make it 3-0. The Cardinals plated their first run of the contest in the sixth inning as a sacrifice fly trimmed the deficit to 3-1.
Elmira increased its lead to 5-1 with a pair of runs in the sixth inning as Jimenez reached on a fielder's choice as Salvati scored, while a double from
Mason Ryan '22 later in the frame allowed
Francis Milone '26 to score. Both sides added a run in the seventh inning as a single from Plaisted pushed the Elmira advantage to 6-2.
The Cardinals would eventually bring the tying run to the plate in the top of the ninth inning trailing 6-3 following a pair of hits. With two outs in the frame, the Cardinals hit a game-tying three-run home run to center field and would later rally for a run in the top of the 10th inning to steal a 7-6 victory from the Soaring Eagles.
Jarek Podest '26 was handed the no-decision despite fanning seven batters and yielding no runs through five innings of work for Elmira.
Ray Mineo '22 suffered the loss despite allowing just one run to score in the 10th inning as he recorded one strikeout and yielded three hits.
