HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the opening set, the Soaring Eagles would get off to a bit of a slow start in which they finished the set with a -.091 hitting percentage. After the Giants would go up 14-4 in the early-going, the Purple & Gold would score each of the next five points, but were unable to overcome a 13-5 Giants advantage in kills for the frame, as the visitors eventually took the set 25-14.
  • After the Giants took the first two points of the second, Elmira would tally off six consecutive points with Makenna Clark '25 at the service position, which featured six kills coming from three different players (Boucher (3), Morgan Richardson '25 (2), Barr (1).
  • The Giants would answer back with four straight before Elmira scored another six in a row with Gabriela Rodriguez '26 at the service position. As the set continued, the two squads continued to trade points, as the set ended with 11 tie scores and three lead changes.
  • With Elmira ahead 21-20, the Giants would score three straight to gain the two-point advantage before a pair of errors from the road team tied the score. From there, back-and-forth play would pursue and extra points would be needed to win the frame, as another pair of errors from Keystone eventually allowed EC to knot the match at 1-1 with a 30-28 victory.
  • In the third, Keystone would hit its lowest percentage from the floor (.000), while Elmira held the advantage in kills with nine. Boucher would up her kill total to 13 for the match, while Elmira controlled the momentum fully with a 25-19 third-set victory.
  • The fourth and final set was much like the second, a frame which featured 13 tie scores and five lead changes. The frame would go to the Soaring Eagles, who finished the match with a 25-23 victory.
