ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Soaring Eagles played another road game on Saturday afternoon against the Hawks of Hartwick College. After a back-and-forth first quarter, Elmira fell behind and could not get back in the game, losing 60-51.
Nevaeh Winston '25 led Elmira with 19 points, with seven rebounds and five steals. Laura Bogota '25 finished with 18 points of her own with five assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira trailed 5-2 a minute into the game before Bogota drained a three-pointer to tie the game. She then knocked down a pair of free throws on the next possession to give Elmira its first lead of the game at 7-5. After a three-point play converted by Hartwick to give the Hawks the lead again, Winston hit a layup and then two free throws on consecutive possessions to retake the lead 11-8 with 4:26 left in the quarter. Two layups by Victoria Rought '25 brought the score to 15-14 at the 1:36 mark before a three-pointer by Hartwick gave it the 17-15 lead at the end of the quarter.
- Eleven straight points by Hartwick to start the second quarter gave the Hawks a 28-15 lead before Winston broke the drought with a made free throw with 3:42 left in the half. Elmira outscored the Hawks 9-3 for the rest of the quarter, but the Soaring Eagles still trailed 31-24 entering halftime.
- Winston and Bogota started the third quarter with consecutive made baskets to bring the deficit down to three at 31-28. Winston and Bogota made two more baskets and tied the game at 32 just over three minutes into the quarter. A D'Asia Jones '25 jump shot later in the quarter brought the score to 38-36 with 4:15 to go in the third. However, the Hawks knocked down a two and three-pointer to close out the half and give them an eight-point lead heading into the final ten minutes of play.
- Winston got the Soaring Eagles on the board first in the fourth quarter with a fast break jumper in the paint. After that point, the Soaring Eagles only offense until three minutes left in the game came from a Jones free throw. Bogota and Winston finished the game off from that point with five points each, giving them 18 and 19 points for the game, respectively. However, the deficit was too much to overcome, and they dropped the matchup by a final of 60-51.
- The Soaring Eagles finished the game 2-14 from beyond the arc, with Bogota making both three-pointers.
