ELMIRA, N.Y. – A first-half goal from
Madison Fleming '27 would give the Elmira College field hockey program a 1-0 advantage before the Oswego State Lakers countered with three second-half goals to record a 3-1 victory on Wednesday at Campus Field.
In the contest,
Peyton DeMaio '28 recorded four defensive saves as she established a new single-game program record which was previously held by Julia Derco '17. DeMaio also set the single-season program record with 10 defensive saves; a record also held by Derco.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Soaring Eagles weathered an offensive barrage from the Lakers in the first quarter as goalkeeper Reese Bowen '27 made three stops in the cage for the Purple & Gold.
- Elmira would take advantage of a late penalty corner opportunity in the second quarter as Madison Fleming '27 found the back of the cage with seven seconds left on the clock to give the Soaring Eagles a 1-0 lead. Fleming's first collegiate goal would be set up by Caitlin Ehlenfield '27.
- The Lakers would bring the offensive barrage again in the third quarter as Oswego recorded 13 total shots with Nancy Pagliaroli scoring the equalizer at the 40:37 mark. Oswego followed with 16 total shots in the fourth quarter, including the go-ahead tally from Madi Stuckart at the 47:11 mark.
- Oswego closed the scoring at the 58:22 mark as Natalie Shields found the back of the cage for the Lakers to make it 3-1.
- In goal for the Soaring Eagles, Bowen finished with a career-high 17 saves while Jazmine Knox '26 tallied three defensive saves. Elmira finished the contest with seven defensive saves and set a new single-game program record. DeMaio also moved into a tie for third all-time in program history with her 10 defensive saves this season for the Soaring Eagles.
