HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Soaring Eagles wasted no time getting on the board in the first game, scoring ten runs while sending 14 hitters to the plate. The rally started with Matteo Salvati '25 driving in Brett Warden '25 on a single to the shortstop. Charnetski then tallied his first RBI of the day, driving in Salvati on a base hit to right field. After a pair of walks loaded the bases, Xander Canfield '26 reached on an infield single, driving in one to make it a 3-0 game. Gabe Fellows '25 followed that up with a bases-clearing triple, doubling the score with only one out in the inning. Warden drove home Fellows in his second at-bat of the inning and came home on an error that allowed Kaden Bolt '26 to reach safely. Bolt came around to score on a passed ball before Charnetski drove in his second run of the inning to make it 10-0.
- The Saxons got two back in the bottom half of the inning on a walk and an error, bringing the score to 10-2. However, the Purple & Gold scored three of their own in the following frame on RBI by Jacob Parker '25 and Charnetski.
- Alfred plated four unearned runs in the bottom half of the inning, cutting Elmira's lead to 13-6.
- EC scored again in the top of the third thanks to another three-bagger by Fellows, driving in Nathan Ofalt '26.
- Nicholas Miller '26 kept the Saxons scoreless for the following two innings, while Charnetski added three more RBI in the top of the fourth on a three-run home run to left field, driving in Bolt and Salvati, and giving Elmira a 17-6 lead.
- Salvati drove in two in the top of the fifth on a 2-RBI double to left-center field, putting the Soaring Eagles up by 13 before Luke Kraft '27 pitched a perfect bottom of the fifth, logging a pair of strikeouts.
- Bryan Jimenez '25 scored on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth before Warden singled in another run, bringing the score to 21-6.
- Alfred would get three runs in the bottom half of the inning, but after the Soaring Eagles scored on an error in the top of the seventh, Erik Berkan '27 shut down the Saxons to take the victory in seven innings, 22-9.
- Charnetski picked up where he left off in the first game, starting the second contest of the afternoon with an RBI triple in the first inning.
- The Soaring Eagles added another in the second before plating five in the third, with Charnetski's second home run of the afternoon getting things started before an RBI fielder's choice, a passed ball, and a Jiminez infield single scored three more to make it a 7-0 ballgame.
- Charnetski added an RBI triple in the following inning which gave Elmira an 11-0 advantage through the top half of the fourth.
- Canfield tossed four innings of one-run ball for the Soaring Eagles before David Kruis '23 and Kyle Tubbs '22 closed out the following three innings without allowing a run, allowing the Soaring Eagles to coast to an 11-1 victory over seven innings.
