HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – The Elmira College softball team dropped both ends of its non-conference doubleheader to the Wildcats from Penn College on Monday afternoon. The Wildcat pitching tandem of Mackenzie Weaver and Fayth Anderson were able to hold the Purple & Gold offense at bay, allowing just six hits over the two contests.
In game one, Brooke Eastman '27 posted the lone hit for the Soaring Eagles, while five players recorded a hit a piece in game two for Elmira, while Brianna Ramstine '25 notched a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In game one, the Wildcats would see right players cross the plate in the first two innings of the contest. In all, Penn College would score its eight runs on six hits, while seeing four reach safely via the walk and hit by pitch.
- Maryann Sobel would come on in relief of EC starting pitcher Shelby Dawe '27, and fired 3.0 innings of two-hit ball where she allowed just one run.
- In the bottom of the third, Elmira would see its lone hit of the ballgame following a single from Eastman to second base.
- Kendall McAnelly '27 would come on in relief of Cadey Wheat '27 in the fifth, where she tossed 0.2 innings, not allowing a hit nor a run.
- In game two, the Wildcats would score a pair of second inning runs against Elmira starting pitcher Madison Lodowski '26. Lodowski would be lifted following two innings of work, where she allowed two hits, one of which was a two-run home run from Hailey DeBroady. Sobel would come on in relief for the next two innings, followed by an inning from McAnelly.
- In the contest, Elmira received hits from Ramstine, Kaitlyn Belmont '24, Katie Distefano '24, Madison Brown-Bloom '24, and Olivia Roccabruna '27.
