Belmont and Brown-Bloom followed by drawing walks to load the bases before Jean tied the game with an RBI single. The Soaring Eagles could not end it in the seventh, and the contest went to extra innings.

Elmira held an 8-1 lead but could not add another, and the game went into the sixth inning.
- The visitors scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the sixth on a two-run single to bring the score to 8-3 heading into the bottom half of the inning.
