UTICA, N.Y. – In its last meeting as non-conference opponents before SUNY Poly joins the Empire 8 next season, the Soaring Eagles and Wildcats split its Tuesday afternoon doubleheader at Wildcat Softball Complex in Utica, New York. After the Wildcats took game one 8-0 in five innings following a two-hit performance from Trinity Critelli, the Soaring Eagles would bounce back to take game two 4-0, as Riley Storrs '27 recorded a pair of hits and a pair of RBI, while Kendall McAnelly '27 went 6.2 innings of six-hit, no-run ball in the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In game one, the Soaring Eagles would see five of its first six offensive outs come via the strikeout from Critelli. The Wildcats would see three cross the plate in the bottom of the first, using four hits and a Soaring Eagle error to its advantage.
- SUNY Poly would see three more runs in the bottom of the second, using a two-RBI double and a groundout to its advantage. Shelby Dawe's '27 afternoon would come to a close with one out in the second, finishing with a final line of 1.1 innings, where she allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits. Cadey Wheat '27 would come on in relief.
- After a quiet third inning for both teams, the Wildcats would score two more in the bottom of the fourth, using an RBI triple and another groundout to push a pair of runners across in its 8-0 victory.
- In game two, the Soaring Eagles would flip the script, shutting out the Wildcats. In the top of the second, Jocelyn Jean '27 would lead off the inning with a hit-by-pitch, before Hannah Flagg '24 (walk) and Bella DeAmelia '24 (single) loaded the bases. From there, Storrs would come up clutch with a single down the leftfield line, bringing home Jean and Flagg to put EC ahead 2-0.
- After allowing her fifth hit just one out into the third, McAnelly would settle in not allowing another until there were two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- The Soaring Eagles would push across a run in the top of the sixth, as DeAmelia would bring Jean home on a sacrifice fly, who singled to begin the frame.
- In the top of the seventh, Elmira would extend its lead to 4-0 after Asia Curkendall '25 scored on a passed ball after doubling with one-out in the inning.
- Wheat would come on to face the final batter of the contest, inducing a flyball to send Elmira away with a 4-0 victory.
