HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – The Elmira College baseball program wrapped up Empire 8 Conference action at home on Sunday as the Soaring Eagles dropped both ends of a doubleheader against the Utica University Pioneers, 13-6 and 17-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Utica tallied a pair of runs in the top of the first inning and a single run in the top of the second inning to take a 3-0 lead against the Soaring Eagles.
- Matteo Salvati '25 would get Elmira on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two-run single that allowed Erik Charnetski '24 and Brett Warden '25 to score and trim the deficit to 3-2.
- Brady Buttice '26 knotted the score later in the fourth inning with a single as Salvati came around to score to make it 3-3. Elmira would gain a 4-3 advantage as Conor Stone '26 worked a walk at the plate while the pitch would get away from the catcher and allow Nathan Ofalt '26 to score.
- The Pioneers answered with a five-run top of the fifth inning to retake the lead against the Soaring Eagles and would tally four more runs in the sixth inning.
- Elmira tallied a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Charnetski delivered a ground-rule double into left field as Warden and Gabe Fellows '25 both scored.
- Both teams tallied a run in the third inning of game two as Warden knotted the score with a double that allowed Jacob Parker '25 to score and make it 1-1.
- Utica would regain the lead following a nine-run top of the fourth inning, giving them a 10-1 advantage on the scoreboard.
- Warden notched his second home run of the season for the Soaring Eagles with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth inning as AJ Ramirez would come around to score after opening the frame with a single.

The Soaring Eagles are scheduled to travel to Misericordia University for a single 9-inning non-conference matchup on Tuesday with first pitch set for 3:30 P.M.
