Toole Nets Late Goal in Elmira’s 3-1 Loss against Salve Regina

MIDDLETOWN, RI – A stellar performance by Salve Regina goaltender Taylor Hannafan guided the Seahawks to a 3-1 victory against the Elmira College women's hockey program on Friday in a matchup between two of the top teams in the New England Hockey Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Salve Regina would open the scoring at the 13:13 mark of the first period as Samantha McKenzie found the back of the net to give the Seahawks a 1-0 advantage.
  • The Seahawks would tally their second goal of the period at the 16:31 mark as Emily Wroblewski beat Elmira goaltender Leonie-Louise Kuehberger '25 to make it 2-0.
  • It would be Wroblewski lighting the lamp again in the second period for Salve Regina, as her second goal of the contest at the 15:51 mark made it 3-0.
  • Elmira would kill three Salve Regina powerplays in the second period while holding a 19-6 advantage in shots.
  • Alayna Toole '26 tallied her 10th goal of the season for the Soaring Eagles at the 18:32 mark of the third period to break up the shutout bid for the Seahawks. Elmira's Emily Lenzen '24 added the assist on Toole's goal.
  • The Soaring Eagles registered 26 shots in the third period and finished the contest with a 39-13 margin in shots on goal. The Seahawks recorded 14 blocked shots, while EC registered five in the contest.
  • Salve Regina goaltender Taylor Hannafan finished the contest with 38 saves on 39 shots, while Kuehberger was credited with the loss after playing 40 minutes for Elmira. Emily Finach '25 stopped all three shots that she faced in the third period for the Soaring Eagles.
 

UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles and Seahawks are back in action on Saturday to wrap up their weekend series as puck drop is scheduled for noon at Howard Rink.
