PINE VALLEY, NY – The Elmira College Soaring Eagles ended their losing streak on Friday night with an 8-1 win over Vermont State University Castleton.
Ryan Reifler '24 made history in the game, scoring his 100th career point in the win with an assist in the first period.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Spartans opened the scoring 5:15 into the first period but EC stormed back, scoring three goals to close out the period, including two in 25 seconds.
First, it was
Nathan Young '25 finding the back of the net to tie the game at the 7:01 mark in the opening frame.
Chance Gorman '24 and Reifler picked up helpers. Next,
Bailey Krawczyk '24 scored, with fellow fifth year
Shane Haviland '24 setting up his marker.
Lucas Stevenson '28 scored a controversial goal just past the midway point in the period, putting the Soaring Eagles ahead 3-1. Following a discussion among the referees, it was determined Stevenson did not kick the puck into the net.

Eric Bertelsen '28,
Cam Lowe '28, and Reifler all scored in the second period, sending EC into the break ahead 7-1.
Reifler also scored again in the third, resulting in the Soaring Eagles' first win in February. It was also a much-needed win for the Purple & Gold.

Matt York '26 (0-2-2), Krawczyk (1-2-3), Havialnd (0-2-2), Young (1-2-3), and
Brennan Boyce '28 (0-2-2) all had multiple points in the win.

Elmira will honor its class of 2025 tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 22 against Castleton. The ceremony will follow the game, which begins at 4:00 P.M.
