HAMBURG, N.Y. – Behind 18 combined kills from
Luke Jata '27 and
Paten Buckwalter '28, the Elmira College men's volleyball program recorded a 3-0 sweep against the Hilbert College Hawks on Tuesday in a non-league matchup inside the Hafner Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira opened the match by recording 13 kills in the first set as the Soaring Eagles hit .258, while the Hawks recorded eight kills. EC opened the set with a 4-0 run as Paten Buckwalter '28 recorded a pair of kills.
- An ace later in the set was part of another 4-0 rally by the Soaring Eagles as Buckwalter tallied two more kills. Elmira would take a 23-13 lead in the set as Jordan Peiser '24 capped a 4-0 run with an ace before a kill from Luke Jata '27 secure the 25-15 victory.
- Hilbert gained an early 6-2 lead in the second set as Elmira responded with a 5-0 run and a kill from Dylan Vargas '27 to take a 7-6 lead. Another ace on the night from Jata capped a 4-0 run to give EC a 17-12 advantage in the set.
- Elmira held a 24-20 lead in the set and would eventually take a 2-0 lead in the match as Peiser delivered a kill off a set from Max Cohen '25 to secure the 25-21 victory.
- The Soaring Eagles would gain momentum back in the third set after the score was knotted 7-7. EC countered with an 8-1 run to gain a 15-8 advantage over the Hawks. Elmira closed the set with a 3-0 run and a pair of aces from Drake Connors '28 to secure the 25-11 victory and the 3-0 sweep.
- Jata and Buckwalter both finished the contest with nine kills for EC, while Peiser added six kills. Vargas tallied four kills on the night, while Connors and Jake Suffa '25 each recorded two kills.
- Cohen paced EC with 25 assists in the match, while Elmira recorded 12 service aces on the night. Jata, Peiser, and Connor Barton '27 each tallied double-digit digs as well for the Soaring Eagles.
