HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – The Elmira College softball program hosted the Marywood University Pacers for its home opener at the Holding Point on Tuesday, as the Soaring Eagles recorded a 5-4 victory in game two after falling 9-4 in game one against the Pacers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Elmira came soaring out of the gates in the bottom of the first inning of game one as the Purple & Gold plated four runs.
- Kristen Cole worked a walk with the bases loaded to plate the first run of the contest as Brianna Ramstine scored. Asia Curkendall followed with an RBI groundout to second to push the Elmira lead to 2-0.
- The Soaring Eagles closed the scoring with a pair of runs off a single to right field from Jenna Burns to make it 4-0.
- Marywood trimmed the deficit to 4-2 in the top of the second inning following a two-run double into left field.
- The Pacers capitalized with seven runs in the fourth inning to take a 9-4 advantage, as Elmira committed a pair of errors that helped to extend the inning.
- In game two, the Pacers scored the opening run of the contest in the top of the first inning.
- Elmira would take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning as Cole plated a pair of runs with a double into left field.
- Sophia Temple followed later in the inning with a single that scored Cole and pushed the lead to 3-1.
- Hannah Colwill added to Elmira's advantage in the fourth inning with a double to left field, which allowed Rachel Lunger to score from first base and make it 4-1. Katie Distefano pushed the lead to 5-1 with a groundout in the fifth inning.
- Marywood rallied for three runs in the top of the sixth inning to trim the deficit to 5-4.
- Maryann Sobel improved to 2-2 on the season after working into the sixth inning for Elmira. Sobel allowed seven hits and four runs (one earned) while adding five strikeouts. Madison Lodowski recorded her first save of the season after keeping the Pacers off the scoreboard through the final four outs.
