COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Soaring Eagles and Fighting Tigers battled through darkness on Friday in a non-conference doubleheader as the Elmira College softball team dropped a 6-3 decision in game one against SUNY Cobleskill and played to an 8-8 draw in game two at Fighting Tiger Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- SUNY Cobleskill opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning of game one. The Fighting Tigers would add another run in the second inning and four in the fourth inning to take a 6-0 lead.
- Elmira started a late rally in the contest as Sophia Temple plated a run with a single to center field. The hit allowed Kristen Cole to score and trim the deficit to 6-1.
- Jocelyn Jean brought home a pair of runs in the seventh inning to pull the Soaring Eagles within three before the Fighting Tigers would secure the third out of the frame to secure the 6-3 victory.
- Hannah Colwill finished game one with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate, while Temple and Asia Curkendall notched a pair of hits for the Purple & Gold.
- In game two, Elmira erased a 2-0 deficit with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning as Brianna Ramstine and Colwill each recorded run-scoring singles for the Soaring Eagles.
- The Fighting Tigers answered with three runs in the bottom of the third to retake the lead at 5-2.
- Jean started a four-run rally in the fourth inning for Elmira with a single that plated Erica Bates, while Ramstine followed with a double to score Jean and make it 5-4.
- A single from Colwill plated Curkendall to knot the score 5-5 before another single from Temple gave the Purple & Gold a 6-5 advantage.
- Elmira extended its lead in the sixth inning as Ramstine and Colwill drove home runs to put EC ahead 8-5.
- The Fighting Tigers rallied against the Soaring Eagles and daylight to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to knot the score 8-8. Following the completion of the seventh inning, the umpires determined that player safety would be an issue due to darkness and called the contest.
- Ramstine, Colwill, and Temple combined for nine hits, seven RBIs, and three runs scored in the top three spots of the lineup for the Soaring Eagles in game two.

The Soaring Eagles will host SUNY Brockport on Saturday at the Holding Point Recreation Complex in an Empire 8 matchup. Elmira will serve as the visiting team after the twin bill was moved from Brockport due to forecasted weather conditions.
