Melie and Haynes Pace Men’s Lacrosse against Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday

BRADFORD, PA. – The Elmira College men's lacrosse program closed with some positive momentum on Wednesday as the Soaring Eagles netted four goals in the fourth quarter despite dropping a 17-8 decision against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers. Corbin Melie and Brody Haynes paced Elmira with two goals on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Panthers scored each of the first three goals to open the contest as they would go up 3-0 with 9:10 left in the first quarter. Corbin Melie would get the Purple & Gold on the scoreboard with his first goal of the contest with just under eight minutes remaining.
  • Elmira trimmed the deficit to 4-2 early in the second quarter following a goal from Carter Jock with 12:04 remaining. Pitt-Bradford answered with five unanswered goals in the quarter as the Panthers would extend their lead to 9-2 with 1:51 left in the half.
  • Troy Cammer ended the run by the Panthers with a goal for the Soaring Eagles with just over a minute left on the clock. Cammer's goal would be assisted by Bailey Krawczyk.
  • Melie would tally the lone goal of the third quarter for the Soaring Eagles, trimming the deficit to 11-4 with 4:27 left on the clock. Krawczyk notched his second assist of the contest to set up Melie's second goal.
  • Pitt-Bradford went on another 5-0 run over the rest of the third quarter and early into the fourth quarter before Brody Haynes netted his first goal off an assist from Liam Wedge at 7:49 remaining.
  • Wedge scored a goal for himself as the Soaring Eagles were down a player on the field with 6:38 remaining. Elmira finished the scoring in the contest with two goals from Haynes and Tyler Germer. Germer found the back of the net with less than a minute left on the clock.
  • In goal for the Soaring Eagles, Isaac Craft recorded seven saves, while Cammer finished with six groundballs for Elmira. Melie paced Elmira with four caused turnovers, while Krawczyk, Cammer, and Jock each added two.
 
UP NEXT: The Soaring Eagles will return to Campus Field for the first time since April 28, 2021, when Elmira hosts Jefferson Community College in an exhibition matchup.
