HORSEHEADS, N.Y. – The Elmira College softball program finished its Empire 8 Conference series against the Hartwick College Hawks on Wednesday at the Holding Point after the first game was suspended in the fifth inning last Saturday. Elmira recorded a 10-2 victory in game one and followed with a 7-5 win in game two to secure the sweep against the Hawks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Before the game was suspended due to weather, Hartwick had opened the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning of game one.
- Elmira answered with a run in the third inning and another in the fourth inning to knot the score 2-2. The Soaring Eagles scored both runs off wild pitches by the Hawks.
- The Soaring Eagles took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning as Hannah Colwill scored from third on a fielder's choice. Katie Distefano pushed the lead to 5-2 with a two-run single to right field.
- Elmira secured the run-rule victory as Sophia Temple cleared the bases with a three-run double to make it 10-2.
- Despite not officially throwing a pitch during the game on Wednesday, Maryann Sobel recorded her fifth win of the season and the 30th of her career at Elmira. Sobel allowed two unearned runs through five innings with four strikeouts.
- In game two, Elmira took a 1-0 lead in the first inning off a sacrifice fly from Colwill to left field. The Hawks answered with three unanswered runs to take a 3-1 lead in the third inning.
- Two runs in the third inning knotted the score for the Soaring Eagles as Ashlyn VanFleet scored on an error by the Hawks to make it 3-3.
- Hartwick would go up 5-3 in the fourth inning after tallying a pair of runs. Elmira would rally with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to retake the lead.
- A double from Distefano followed by a single from Asia Curkendall tied the game 5-5, while Jordyn Frantz connected on her first collegiate home run to give the Purple & Gold a 7-5 lead.
- Allie Mienaltowski recorded her third straight win in the circle and fourth in her last five outings for Elmira after holding Hartwick scoreless through three innings of work. Sobel was handed the no-decision after allowing five runs (two earned) through four innings.
