WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Elmira College men's lacrosse team took on Lycoming College in its season opener on the road Wednesday. The Soaring Eagles fell to the Warriors, 20-13 despite Corbin Melie's six-goal performance.

Corbin Melie opened the scoring just under a minute into the game before adding a second just two minutes later. A strong response by Lycoming saw the Warriors score four unanswered goals before Melie added a third to pull the Soaring Eagles back within one. A goal by the Warriors helped them take a 5–3 lead after the first period.
Austin Jerzak's shorthanded goal just fourteen seconds in opened the second-period scoring. Makai Tarjamo tied the game at 5 with a man-up goal, and shortly after, Jerzak gave EC the lead before a strong finish to the period gave Lycoming a 9–7 lead at halftime.
The Warriors started the third by scoring three unanswered goals before Melie cut the Soaring Eagles' deficit back to four. A 3–1 run over the final six minutes put Lycoming up 15–9 going into the final frame.
Melie scored again to open the fourth period, and shortly after, John McLachlan got on the board to narrow the deficit to four. However, a 4–0 run by the Warriors gave them an eight-goal lead. The Soaring Eagles tried to battle back, scoring two goals down the stretch, but ultimately fell short in a 20–13 loss.
LEADERS
Corbin Melie led the way for the Soaring Eagles with six goals on nine shots. Austin Jerzak scored four goals while going 28-for-35 on faceoffs.

The Soaring Eagles will face Allegheny College in their home opener on Saturday, March 14 at Campus Field. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
