ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College men's lacrosse team hosted the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill for a Wednesday evening matchup at Campus Field. Elmira scored four times early and never looked back, defeating SUNY Cobleskill at home 11-3.

The Soaring Eagles got the scoring started in this one when
Jack Samek was open on the low right side of the net, taking a pass from
Austin Jerzak, and finding the back of the net to make it 1-0. Momentum continued four seconds later when
Corbin Melie took a pass from Jerzak and scored to add to the Elmira advantage. Jerzak added a goal for himself a bit later, taking a pass from Melie, as Elmira went up 3-0. Samek and Jerzak teamed up for EC's fourth goal a minute later. Even though both teams recorded 11 shots in the first period, the Soaring Eagles held a 4-0 lead going into the second. Issac Craft tallied five saves in the first for EC.
Jerzak picked up his fourth assist of the contest halfway through the second, this time finding
Spencer Barrow to make it 5-0 EC. Jerzak notched another assist 30 seconds later, finding
Troy Cammer for Elmira's sixth goal. The Fighting Tigers answered back with two goals, cutting the deficit to 6-2 at the conclusion of the first half. Cammer got the scoring started in the second half, putting one in the back of the net off a pass from
John McLachlan to make it 7-2. Cobleskill responded again making the score 7-3 at the end of the third period.
Jerzak picked up his second goal of the night 12 seconds into the final period, giving EC an 8-3 advantage. Cammer picked up the ninth goal of the night for the Soaring Eagles with an unassisted tally with six minutes remaining. Barrow brought the total for EC into double digits with four minutes left. Another tally for Barrow one minute later gave the Soaring Eagles an 11-3 advantage. The remaining few minutes expired as the Soaring Eagles claimed the victory at home, 11-3.
LEADERS
Offensively, Jerzak led the way with five assists, while tallying a pair of goals, and going 12-18 on faceoffs. Cammer and Barrow each notched a hat trick with three goals apiece. Melie recorded one goal and one assist. Craft made 17 saves between the pipes for the Soaring Eagles.
