Softball Splits Road Doubleheader Against St. John Fisher

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Elmira College softball team split road contests against St. John Fisher University on Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 action. The Cardinals took the first game before Elmira won the second game, 4-3.

GAME ONE: CARDINALS COME OUT ON TOP
St. John Fisher set the tone early, capitalizing on timely hitting and Elmira miscues to build a lead in the opening innings. The Cardinals plated multiple runs in both the first and second frames, using a combination of RBI singles and defensive pressure to take control of the game.

Elmira battled throughout and remained within striking distance, but St. John Fisher continued to generate offense in key moments. A pivotal sixth inning saw the Cardinals tack on additional runs, taking advantage of errors and clutch hitting to extend their advantage.

Despite the deficit, the Soaring Eagles showed resilience at the plate, producing runs and keeping pressure on Fisher late into the contest. However, the early surge by the Cardinals proved too much to overcome as Elmira ultimately fell on the road.

GAME TWO: SOARING EAGLES COME OUT ON TOP
Elmira struck early, pushing runs across in the opening innings to take control of the contest. The Soaring Eagles capitalized on timely hitting to build a multi-run lead and put pressure on the Cardinals from the start.

St. John Fisher responded in the middle innings, chipping away at the deficit with key hits to make it a one-run game. The Cardinals continued to threaten late, putting runners on base and forcing Elmira to execute defensively in high-pressure situations.

Holding a narrow 4-3 lead, Elmira came up with clutch pitching and defense down the stretch. The Soaring Eagles worked out of late-inning jams to preserve the one-run advantage and secure the conference victory.
