Rochester, N.Y. – The Elmira College field hockey team battled Roberts Wesleyan on the road Wednesday evening, falling to the Redhawks, 8-0.

Nicole Luther recorded two shots on goal to lead the Soaring Eagles.

Elmira came out strong defensively in the opening quarter, with
Elara Rodriguez making three saves in the first 15 minutes to keep the Soaring Eagles within striking distance. Roberts Wesleyan eventually found the back of the cage twice to take a 2-0 lead into the second quarter.
The Soaring Eagles created their best offensive opportunities of the night in the second quarter, as
Nicole Luther registered back-to-back shots on goal. Both attempts were on target but were turned aside by the Roberts Wesleyan goalkeeper. The Redhawks added four goals in the quarter to take a 6-0 advantage into halftime.
Roberts Wesleyan added one goal in each of the final two quarters to secure the 8-0 victory. Rodriguez played all 60 minutes in goal and finished with three saves, while Luther accounted for both of Elmira's shots, putting both on goal.
