Elmira, N.Y. – Elmira College Athletics is excited to partner with Pietro & Son's to honor the Soaring Eagle Athletes of the Week for the 2026-27 season. Freshmen Elara Rodriguez and Brooke Wilcox pick up the honor for the first time this season.

Field Hockey, Elara Rodriguez
In her freshman campaign, Rodriguez has already made a strong impact for the Soaring Eagles Field Hockey team. In just seven games so far this season, she has already recorded 82 saves. This past week, Rodriguez was a fundamental piece for the Soaring Eagles. She was seen recording 31 saves across two games. Against Brockport, Rodriguez notched nine saves and 22 saves against Utica. Rodriguez's clutch performance between the posts helped secure Elmira's first win against Utica since 2012.

Women's Soccer, Brooke Wilcox
In her freshman campaign, Wilcox has helped set the standard for the Soaring Eagles Women's Soccer team. This past week, Wilcox helped keep EC even with the No. 1 team in the Empire 8 Houghton University. Wilcox was seen netting both goals in the match against Houghton to record the 2-2 draw. The Highlanders took an early lead, but Wilcox found the equalizer shortly after the start of the second half. The Highlanders took a 2-1 advantage, but Wilcox once again netted the equalizer to keep EC even with Houghton.
