Elmira, N.Y. – Elmira College women's volleyball freshman middle hitter Averleigh McFarlan has been named Empire 8 Rookie of the Week, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
 
In her collegiate debut and first week of competition, McFarlan made an immediate impact for the Soaring Eagles, earning three starts across four matches. She appeared in all four contests, playing 13 sets and totaling 34.5 points for an average of 2.65 points per set. McFarlan recorded 29 kills, two assists, seven digs, and five service aces. She earned 13 of those kills and four digs against Geneva in their home opener.
 
This is the first time McFarlan has been named E8 Rookie of the Week in the 2026 season.
