Mitchell Kennedy

Mitchell Kennedy enters his second season as the Elmira College men’s volleyball assistant coach during the 2019-20 academic year. 

Kennedy will bring a wealth of experience and championship pedigree to the Elmira bench after spending his undergraduate career at United Volleyball Conference (UVC) foe SUNY New Paltz. Kennedy helped guide the perennial powerhouse Hawks to three straight NCAA Division III Tournaments from 2015-2017. In 2016, he was a member of a New Paltz team that amassed a 33-2 overall record (8-0 UVC), the second-highest win-total in program history, en route to the NCAA National Championship. During the Hawks’ championship run, Kennedy appeared in 15 matches, amassing career-best marks in both assists (175) and assists per set (6.25).

The Penfield, New York, native, finished his career with 423 assists and a per set average of 5.29, while adding 43 digs and 17 blocks. The Hawks amassed a 106-25 record during his four-year career, reaching back-to-back national championship games in 2016 and 2017 while reaching No. 1 in the AVCA Coaches Poll in 2016. He will oversee the development of EC’s setters this upcoming season.

Kennedy graduated from New Paltz in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Media Programming and Management. He will be pursuing a master’s in Management from Elmira.
