Clarke's weekend was a historic one, to say the least. The Elmira women's golf team opened the 2017-18 season at the William Smith Invitational at the Clifton Springs Country Club over the weekend and the fourth-year standout captured co-medalist honors. The Churchville, New York, native finished the 36-hole tournament deadlocked with SUNY Cortland's Danielle Bambola with a two-day score of 162 (+18).
Through the first round of action on Saturday, Clarke carded an 8-over-par 80, the fifth-best round of her collegiate career and a mere three strokes off the pace of her all-time low round. On Saturday, she trimmed four strokes off of her score on the back nine to card a two-over 38. In the second round, however, she was two strokes better on the front, including a birdie on the par-4 third en route to an 82 (+10) on day two.
By earning co-medalist honors at the William Smith Invite, Clarke, a three-time Empire 8 All-Conference award winner, moved into a two-way tie with Briana MacDonald '14 for the EC all-time program record for most tournament wins with six.
