Emma MacDowell '23 has positioned herself atop the standings for the Soaring Eagles in recent weeks, leading the Purple and Gold to a pair of runner-up finishes at the Charger Invitational and the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational. At Caz's five-kilometer race on Saturday, the Rushville, New York, native earned her second consecutive top-five finish by placing fifth with a time of 23:13.3.
The standout freshman has not only led the Soaring Eagles to back-to-back runner-up finishes, but has paced EC in each of the last three races. Additionally, her time is 5.1 seconds quicker than the previous program 5K record at the Fenner Fields course.
Following a break from competition this weekend, MacDowell and the Soaring Eagles will return to action at the 5K Bronco Classic, hosted by SUNY Delhi on Tuesday, October 8, at the College Golf Course at Delhi.
