Katelyn Sherman

Katelyn Sherman joined the Elmira College women’s lacrosse coaching staff in September of 2019 following an exceptional playing career at Ave Maria University, an NAIA institution in Ave Maria, Florida.

A four-year letterwinner and two-time captain for the Gyrenes, Sherman graduated from Ave Maria as the program’s all-time leading scorer. She was a four-time All-Conference selection, which included a pair of first-team nods, and received NAIA All-America Second Team honors at the conclusion of her sophomore season. The native Floridian produced 168 points (142g-26a) at Ave Maria, capped off by a career-best 51 points (39g-12a) in 2019. As a result, she was crowned University’s Female Senior Athlete of the Year.

Originally from Melbourne, Fla., Sherman spent three-plus years as a student worker for the Ave Maria sports medicine department. She aided the sports medicine staff with coverage at practices and games, helped with treatment sessions, and completed paperwork for the office.

Sherman earned a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology in the spring of 2019 with a cumulative 3.46 GPA. Her work in the classroom was recognized by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), as she became the first player in program history to garner CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades. Sherman is currently pursuing a master's in General Management at Elmira.
