Pine Valley, NY – EC Field Hockey dropped a tough loss this afternoon as they were beaten by the Knights of SUNY Geneseo, 4-0. The Knights were relentless in their attack as they fired 34 shots in total, putting 28 on goal.
The Knights scored 4:32 into the contests as EC found themselves on the wrong end of a two-on-one breakaway. The play would result in the first shot and goal of the contest. EC played solid for the next 26 minutes until Katie Farley '14 (Scotia, NY -- Niskayuna) scored off one of her own rebounded shots. The Knights would hold the 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The second half would be much like the first as EC struggled to produce any offensive opportunities. Farley would register her second goal of the contest just 3 minutes into the half. Geneseo would put the contest away as they would register their fourth goal of the game 14 minutes into the half.
Riannon Crocker '14 (Nashua, NH -- Nashua) would be credited with the loss as she mad 20 saves in 53 minutes of action. Fellow classmate Taylor Youngkrans '14 (Marshfield, MA -- Marshfield) also saw time in goal as she made 3 saves for the Soaring Eagles.
Elmira will look to rebound as they travel to Utica, NY to take on the Pioneers of Utica College in an Empire 8 battle on Saturday, October 23rd at 1:00 p.m.
