Pilgrims of New England College

Northfield, VT – The Soaring Eagles Women's Ice Hockey team opened the 2010-11 season by dominating the Pilgrims of New England College in the first game of the Norwich Classic. Elmira out-shot the Pilgrims 65-to-7 en route to a convincing 5-0 victory.

Elmira opened the game by scoring at the 7:55 mark in the first period on a goal from Katie Walker '12. Tanis Lamoureux '14 was credited with the assist. Walker would follow up her first goal with another at the 9:50 mark in the second period on a power play opportunity. Assistant captains Caitlin Metcalf '13 and Lindsay Mitchell '12 earned assists on the goal. Less than a minute after Walker's second goal, first year talent Kelsey Evershed '14 registered her first career goal as a Soaring Eagle. Earning assists on the goal was Madison Johnston '13 and Samantha Curk '13. EC would hold a 3-0 advantage entering the third period.

EC would not back down as they would fire 31 shots in the third period and would find the net twice in the period. Just 48 seconds into the third Tori Charron '14 would tally her first goal as a Soaring Eagle. Charron's goal would come on a power play opportunity. Ella Stewart '14 and Metcalf would earn assists.
