Men’s Hockey Falls Just Short at Neumann

Aston, PA – The Men's Ice Hockey team took on ECAC West pre-season favorite Neumann University tonight.  The Soaring Eagles looked to improve on their 3-2-0 record as well as their perfect 2-0-0 ECAC West record.

In the first period turned out to be uneventful as both teams played to a 0-0 tie.  In the period Elmira registered 8 shots while the Knights of Neumann fired 6.  Neumann was hit with two penalties in the period but EC failed to convert on both chances.

The second period would produce the only score of the game, which would be in favor of the Knights.  Neumann would take advantage of a power-play opportunity at the 7:51 mark in the period to put them ahead 1-0.

With EC trailing 1-0, Elmira would pull goalie Darren MacDonald '13 (Stittsville, ONT -- Nepean Raiders, CJHL) from net to try to even the contest.  Unfortunately for the Soaring Eagles, they would come up short in the contest, losing 1-0.  MacDonald would collect 22 saves in addition to his second loss of the season.

Look for Elmira to rebound as they travel to take on Curry College in a non-conference match-up on November 13th.  Face-off is scheduled for 7:35 p.m.
