Plattsburgh Sneaks Past EC in Women’s Hockey, 2-1

Plattsburgh, NY – EC Women's Hockey entered today's contest looking to make it a weekend sweep of the Cardinals of SUNY Plattsburgh. Just like last night's contest today's game would be decided by one goal, this time in favor of the Cardinals as they dominated on offense by out-shooting Elmira 38-to-15.

Elmira would survive the first period without allowing a goal as they were out-shot 14-to-1. EC goalie Lauren Sullivan '13 (Toronto, ONT -- Markham-Stouffville Stars, PWHL) would make 14 saves to keep the game tied at 0-0. Plattsburgh would out-shoot Elmira 15-to-5 in the second period and would register two goals, giving them a 2-0 edge going into the third period.

In desperate need of offense, EC's Tanis Lamoureux '14 (Canton, MI -- Victory Honda, TOEHL) would put Elmira on the board just 27 seconds into the third period, cutting the Cardinal lead to one. Madison Johnston '13 (Toronto, ONT -- Toronto Aeros, PWHL) would tally an assist on the goal. The Soaring Eagles were unable to tie the game as Plattsburgh would hold on for a 2-1 victory.

With the loss Elmira drops to 8-3-1 overall and 6-1-1 in ECAC West play. EC Women's Hockey will be back in action on January 2nd as they travel to participate in the Cardinal-Panther Classic. Their first game of the tournament is against Middlebury College at 7:00 p.m.
