Rochester, NY -- The Elmira College Field Hockey team fought hard in a 4-0 loss to host University of Rochester. The Soaring Eagles played solid defense but were unable to put up any goals in the contest.
The University of Rochester scored two goals in the first half and another two in the second. EC tried out three different goalies in today's contest. Lauren Thomas '14 (Marshfield, MA -- Marshfield) got the start as she made 9 saves and allowed only 1 goal in 24:36 of action. Taylor Youngkrans '14 (Oneida, NY -- Oneida) was next in line for a chance between the posts as she made 4 saves and allowed 3 goals. Finally Riannon Crocker '14 (Nashua, NH -- Nashua) made an appearance in the contest making 3 saves and allowing 0 goals.
U of R controlled the event as they took 33 shots to Elmira's 7. Of Elmira's 7 shots only 1 made its way on goal. Elmira will try to shake off today's loss as they open up Empire 8 play in their home opener against the Hawks of Hartwick college on Saturday, September 18th at 1:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletics Center in Pine Valley, NY.
