Women’s Soccer Plays Alfred to 0-0 Tie

Alfred, NYThe Elmira College Women's Soccer team played their first Empire 8 contest tonight against the Saxons of Alfred University.  EC played the Saxons to a 0-0 tie giving Elmira a 0-2-1 overall record on the season and leaving them still hungry for their first win of the season.

Tonight's contest was played very even as Elmira would barely outshoot Alfred 16-14 with Elmira putting 14 of those shots on goal.  Despite not putting a goal in, EC strikers Kelsey Keil '13 (Bryn Athyn, PA -- Academy of the New Church) and Kristyn O'Rourke '13 (Beaver Dams, NY -- Corning East) kept the pressure on Alfred as they combined for 12 shots, putting 10 of their shots on target.  Third year keeper Karissa Wilson '12 (Londonderry, NH -- Londonderry) made 8 saves in 110 minutes of action tonight while Saxon keeper Shanna Ewoldt '12 (Tuscon, AZ -- Waubansie) made 14 saves in 110 minutes.

Women's Soccer will surely be looking to pick up their first win as they continue Empire 8 play on Wednesday, September 15th as EC hosts the Hawks of Hartwick College at 4:00 p.m. at Campus Field in Elmira, NY.
