Women’s Hockey Dominates Potsdam

Potsdam, NY – The EC Women's Ice Hockey team dominates the SUNY Potsdam Bears again in a 5-1 win Sunday afternoon in Potsdam. The win improves the Soaring Eagles to 8-1-1 overall and 6-0-0 in ECAC West play, while the loss drops the Bears to 2-6-1 overall and in conference action.

The Bears got on the board first at the 12:32 minute mark with Brittany Luck scoring the goal and getting assisted by Jenn Crawford and Keri Dempsey. EC would get a chance to score on a power play, but could not covert and would be down 0-1 at the end of the first period.

EC would change the game around early in the second period with Katie Gaskin '14 (Pickering, ONT -- Wayne State University) scoring her first goal of the season being assisted by Ella Stewart '14 (Mississauga, ONT -- Notre Dame Hounds) and Tanis Lamoureux '14 (Canton, MI -- Victory Honda). The Soaring Eagles would take the lead at 4:41 with Erin Weston '15 (Ajax, ONT -- Etobicoke Dolphins) scoring the goal and being assisted by Tori Charron '14 (Goodwood, ONT -- Aurora Panthers) and Lindsay Burrows '15 (Stouffville, ONT -- Whitby Wolves). EC would continue their momentum when Lindsay Mitchell '12 (Arnold, MD -- No. American Hockey Academy) scored two goals at the 11:57 and 15:34 mark being assisted on the second goal by Stewart.

In the third period EC would seal the game with another goal by Weston at the 7:36 mark getting assisted by Stewart and Gaskin. The EC offense showed its domination by outshooting the Bears 53-21 in the game. Sam Maguire '13 (Findlay, OH -- Ohio Flames) stopped 20 shots in net for the Soaring Eagles, while Dawna Salvarinas made 48 saves for Potsdam.

The Purple and Gold will return to action on Sunday, December 11th at 3pm at the Murray Athletics Center in Pine Valley, NY.
