Goalkeepers Combine For 20 Saves in Loss to University of Rochester

Rochester, NY – The Elmira College Field Hockey team was unable to breakthrough against a talented University of Rochester (4-1) squad in a 9-0 loss Wednesday evening in Rochester. Despite the loss the Soaring Eagles (0-4) saw solid performances from their goalies that combined two make 20 stops.

 

Rochester started the scoring in the fourth minute and built a 7-0 halftime lead, as they had nine different players score. The Soaring Eagle defense stood strong in the second half, giving up just two goals after intermission. Lauren Thomas '14 (Marshfield, MA -- Marshfield) and Brooke Ramage '15 (Masonville, NY -- Sidney) gave up nine goals, while combining to make 17 saves. Kourtny Schwerdtman '15 (Exeter, PA -- Wyoming Area) made three saves in 11 minutes of action.

 

EC returns to Murray Athletics Center for its home and conference-opener Saturday at 1:00 p.m. against St. John Fisher.
