Potsdam, NY – The Elmira College Women's Soccer team stuck with a gritty Clarkson squad but was unable to mount a comeback as they fell 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Potsdam. The Soaring Eagles moved to 2-2, while the Golden Knights remained undefeated at 4-0.
Both teams played back and forth to a scoreless first half before Clarkson broke through in the 53rd minute. Sarah Andres fed Hilary Mosher who finished with a shot into the top corner of the net past EC goalkeeper Karissa Wilson '12 (Londonberry, NH – Londonberry). The Purple and Gold fought back the entire match trying to find an equalizer. Clarkson added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute when Andres scored on a penalty kick.
Despite the loss Elmira outshot its opponents 9-3 in the first half and held a distinctive 8-1 advantage in corner kicks for the entire contest. Wilson stopped four shots in net for the Soaring Eagles, while Brianna Thibeau made six saves.
EC stays on the road as they visit St. Lawrence tomorrow for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.
