Hamilton-Criscuolo Connection Huge in Women’s Soccer 2-1 Win over Hartwick

Oneonta, NY – The Hamilton to Criscuolo connection paid huge dividends for the Elmira College Women's Soccer team as the two hooked up for a pair of goals to lift the Soaring Eagles to a 2-1 win Wednesday evening against host Hartwick College. The Purple and Gold improve to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in conference play, while the Hawks drop to 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the Empire 8.

EC got out to a quick start early as they outshot Hartwick 11-4 in the opening stanza. In the 17th minute Mollie Hamilton '15 (Victor, NY – Victor) fed Caitlyn Criscuolo '14 (Cheshire, CT — Cheshire) who gathered the ball in front of net and beat Hawk goalkeeper Teagan Waddingham. Elmira took a 1-0 advantage into halftime.

Twenty-five minutes into the second half the 1-2 combo of Hamilton and Criscuolo struck again. Hamilton played a through ball up to Criscuolo who took it one-on-one with the goalie, putting the Soaring Eagles up 2-0. Six minutes later Hartwick got on the board when Mackenzie Shipley fed Kate Schild who scored into the left corner of the net.

Karissa Wilson '12 (Londonberry, NH – Londonberry) came up huge, stopping six shots for EC. Waddingham and Hope Brown combined to make six saves for the Hawks.

The Women's Soccer team looks to keep its momentum rolling when it hosts Castleton State Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
