Field Hockey Blanked in Opening Loss to William Smith

Geneva, NY – The Elmira College Field Hockey team struggled to break through in its season-opening match, as they fell 7-0 at William Smith College Wednesday evening in inclement weather conditions. The Soaring Eagles (0-1) fell behind early as the Herons (3-0) registered two goals in the first 10 minutes.

EC's defense tried to keep it close, but the offense couldn't muster many attacks as they were heavily outshot. Lauren Thomas '14 (Marshfield, MA – Marshfield) made 20 saves in net for the Purple and Gold, while Brooke Ramage '15 (Masonville, NY – Sidney) stopped two shots for Elmira College. Taryn Little made two saves for the Herons.

Elmira will look to bounce back as they travel to square off against Wheaton College Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
